As Comic-Con expands every year faster than the Universe, it's becoming clear that pop culture is changing. Gone are the days of hip little indie films, it's the time of the "Avengers," "The Amazing Spiderman," "The Big Bang Theory." It's truly the time for the revenge of the nerds when a division of a local Hollywood comic book store, Meltdown comics, has more "Klout" than the Weinstein Company and TMZ Celebrities. Klout is a service that measures Twitter & Facebook users' well, clout, in the cyberverse and it's pretty clear that the geeks are winning.
The King and Queen of the Klout prom are...Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day. Wil Wheaton, known for his role as Wesley Crusher in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" that aired from 1987-1994 and who went on to play roles in a variety of geek TV shows including SYFY's "Eureka," Felicia Day's "The Guild," and "The Big Bang Theory" as himself. The Queen Klout geek, Felicia Day known for "The Guild," and recently a co-star on "Eureka," (hmmm, notice a trend here...) is mostly known for being an outspoken geek with a popular blog. Both Wheaton and Day are brilliant social media marketers and keep their fans engaged by just being their quirky geeky selves and responding to their many fans.
