MY 15 MINUTES OF FAME!

So, usually I'm at red carpet events either on the press side or as a guest, but never as a CELEBRITY. Never as the one who has all the photographers yelling her name and smiling and posing for the paparazzi...  But for once, I was!

My art is included in the Heavy Metal published book "the Art of Agent 88," which is an art book for the upcoming web series Agent 88 produced by Digger Mesch and Jan Utstein-O'Neill, starring British actress, Kay D'Arcy.

They actually had FOUR openings, four weeks of parties and signing my art, along with the other 87(!) amazing artists and cast. For the premiere I got to walk on the red carpet as an actual photographee rather than photographer. Photographers were clicking away and saying "Over here! Over here!" as I awkwardly posed and smiled and tried to figure out my best angles. BUT.... Unfortunately, I wasn't famous enough for any of the photos to make the web (yet!!!) so I'm having a problem tracking them down. Hopefully I'll find them so I can document my first 15 minutes of fame. And hopefully there will be more. :)

Gotta admit, a bit of a dopamine rush. No wonder so many celebs become drug addicts. You actually get a bit of a high with all that attention. Probably need drugs to keep up that dopamine level. Although, eventually, I'm sure it turns into a been-there/done-that job, requiring forced smiles and being "on" for the media and soon wanting to turn to drugs or alcohol for relief!

Oh, and guess what! Out of the 88 artists, who I think were almost all more well known than me, only four sold the first night, and mine was one of them! Of course, the one that sold the most, was the one created by Kevin Eastman, creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and owner of Heavy Metal Magazine.

All the artists were given the same criteria: We had to create the main character who is now 88 years-old and she must have a red jacket, horn-rimmed glasses, a heart locket, and a knitting needles with 8 balls in her hair. I tend to do mostly pin-up art, so I asked "Can I do her when she was young?" The answer was yes, so I developed my psychedelic 1966 version...

I was so proud that mine got a red dot (sold!) Woohoo! (Limited edition prints still available!)

So, I got my 15 minutes of fame--and at an art gallery--sooo Andy Warhol...  And now moving on to putting together a pin-up art book, novelizing my quantum-physical romantic comedy screenplay, (yes, I made up a new genre,) updating Quantum Party Girls, which is a bit on the back-burner right now, and taking on the publishing of this online magazine. Whew!

Hi, if anyone is actually reading this... This has been a crazy week, launching an entire magazine on my own, trying to market it, PLUS trying to promote my comic/transmedia project in development, QUANTUM PARTY GIRLS.

It's a sci-fi/hollywood parody but will also include some real quantum physics and eventually there will be romance for the girls. They hook up with guys outside of L.A., waaay outside of L.A.... :)

As you can see, I pitch it as "TMZ meets Stargate" and there will be aspects of both. For the Stargate fans out there, I'm hoping to integrate sci-fi adventures that are fun and engaging too.

I'm part of a contest in Animation Magazine to get to pitch my project to execs and get featured in the magazine. If anyone out there is reading this, could you please go to the link below and find Quantum Party Girls (the image here) and click the little circle next to it, then submit vote at the bottom of the page. http://www.animationmagazine.net/pitch-party-2012-vote/

I REALLY appreciate your help!

Thanks!!! :)

:) Alicia

QUICK COMMENT ON ROCK OF AGES

Saw "Rock of Ages" tonight-- loved the music (makes me want to say "duuuuuude!" and headbang!), and the offbeat, tongue in cheek humor, but Tom Cruise was seriously miscast! As a Scientologist, I doubt he has ever spent any time with any real alcohol/drug abusing rocker dudes and has no idea how to act like one. His acting was just terrible. Not sexy at all for a supposed hot rock star. His performance just made me cringe. On the other hand, Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin & Catherine Zeta Jones were wonderfully funny and made the movie work. At the end I think I saw Sebastian Bach as an extra outside the Rainbow, duuuude, he should have played Tom Cruise's role!
